Quarter Horse Association (AQHA)
- The AQHA was established to ensure the unique qualities
of this breed did not perish. A group of American Quarter
Horse enthusiasts met in 1940 in Ft. Worth, Texas to establish
what was to become the largest equine breed registry in
the world, the American Quarter Horse Association. Located
in Amarillo, TX, the AQHA has registered more than 5 million
American Quarter Horses and serves more than 350,000 members
worldwide. AQHA functions as the official record keeping
and governing body of the American Quarter Horse Industry.

of Buckskin, Dun, Red Dun, and Grulla Horses. IBHA was incorporated
in 1971 to register, preserve the pedigree and promote the
activity of Buckskin, Dun , Red Dun, and Grulla Horses.
IBHA has proven to be the largest and most progressive registry

States Equestrian Federation (USEF)

Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI),
founded in 1921, is the international body governing equestrian
sport recognized by the International Olympic Committee
(IOC). The FEI is the sole controlling authority for all
international events in Dressage, Jumping, Eventing, Driving,
Endurance, Vaulting, Reining and Para-Equestrian. It establishes
the regulations and approves the equestrian programmes at
Championships, Continental and Regional Games as well as
the Olympic Games. |

Equestrian Games
- The World Equestrian Games, held every four years, are
comprised of the world championships for eight equestrian
sports - show jumping, dressage, eventing, driving, reining,
vaulting, endurance and para-equestrian. The inaugural games
were held in 1990 in Stockholm, Sweden, and have never taken
place outside of Europe. The 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian
Games™ in Kentucky will represent the largest equestrian
sporting event ever held in the United States. |
